Student Progression (Results)
The institution was established in the year 1983 with the aim of providing quality teacher education for all the sections of students. The initial intake sanctioned for B.Ed. course was 100. The admissions were made by the institution itself at the period. In the second year, (1984-85) the affiliating university, i.e., Acharya Nagarjuna University, conducted a separate entrance examination for making admission into B.Ed. course in its affiliated Colleges of Education.

The admissions were made based on the Ranks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examination. The total intake sanctioned by the Government in 1984-85 was 200. Later the Government of A.P. constituted a separate Common Entrance Test for admission into B.Ed course. The Convener of the Test conducted the Examination and made admissions. In the academic year 1986-87, the government of Andhra Pradesh sanctioned 160 B.Ed. students to the institution along with the other colleges of Education established at that time.  The admission policy that was introduced in 1986 is still followed. However, management quota was introduced from the year 2003 onwards.

The M.Ed. course was started in 1991 with strength of 30 students. In 2007, the M.Ed. strength was increased to 40, in 2008, it was 43 (40 +3 super numery seats) and in 2009 it was increased to 48.  The college was permitted to start a Research Cell in 2003 by Acharya Nagarjuna University

The results of the course indicate that the pass percentage over the years is very high. The high pass percentage shows that the programme has had comprehensive impact on the student teachers. Consistent high pass percentages indicate that the teaching learning processes and the inputs are stable and institutionalized.
Almost all the B.Ed. and M.Ed. students enter into the teaching profession either in the private schools or Govt. schools. A few of the B. Ed. students get into P.G. courses and some of the M.Ed. students get into research field. Very few pursue other fields.
Many of our old students are:

  • Principals in Colleges of Education

The institution has got good reputation among educational circles for its best instruction and discipline and activities. The common talk is that 'R.V.R.R. College students secure appointments in DSC' because of their merit and teaching abilities. The kind of instruction that they get here makes them to be industrious. From the feedback, it is known that the training they had received helps them to be more confident and to become Resource Persons in their respective Mandals (MRPs - Mandal Resource Persons). Those who have the desire to secure a teacher post in government schools through DSC, select our institution for admission. Most of the student teachers are working in government schools as Secondary Grade Teachers and School Assistants.

Placement Cell

The Institution has a placement cell to provide placement related inputs and guidance for students.  There exists a record of placements made by the institution and the wait period after the completion of the programme is minimal.  The schools and Colleges of Education come forward to conduct campus interviews and show interest in appointing the products in their institutions.  Many a time, the requisition is conveyed to the Principal and Staff over phone. The students leave their resume with the staff members and thus make themselves available as and when the requisitions come.  Renowned schools in Guntur are in constant touch with the institution to fill the vacancies in their schools.

Feedback
The Institution values much the feedback and a comprehensive feedback system is in practice.  There is no gap between performance and feedback.  Feedback is obtained from more than one source.  The information obtained from different sources is collated for arriving at a comprehensive feedback. Feedback is a formal requirement of the programme.  It is necessary for improvement and is used for specific improvement leading to professional development. Writing feedback reports for student teachers to improve their performance is an essential aspect of teacher education programme.  Teacher educators spend time and effort on developing feedback reports for student teachers and they follow up with specific enquiries and inputs for development.

Remedial Programme
Remedial programme is an important part of the teacher education programme.  There are remedial programmes for both practical work and theory.  In the practical programme, the weaknesses are identified and the student teachers are made to redo the teaching practice. Taking help from staff and co-students, the head of the institution discusses about the progress of the weak students and identify the area in which they are lagging. Later, remedial measures and adjustments are made.

Guidance and Counselling Service

  • The institution has a well structured and organized proactive guidance and counselling facility.
  • The institution has guidance and counseling service, which is one of the student support services provided by the institute. Student teachers will have various difficulties that are not possible to be addressed in a group and in such cases, individualized guidance is provided.
  • The institution has qualified faculty for providing guidance and counseling services.  There are four faculty members with psychology education, who give timely guidance and counseling to the students. There are some student teachers who seek guidance to solve their educational attainment related problems and others use the facility for their personal development.
